Tree & Shrub Program

The Ornamental program consists of 5 treatments throughout the year. 4 of the 5 are designed to control insects and diseases that attack the plant material. The 5th is a special fertilizer with minor and major nutrients not naturally found in the soil to help your plants thrive.

Round 1:

Winter application of dormant oils to reduce the amount of pesticides used later in the year. Oil smothers insects and their eggs cutting down on the overall damaging populations throughout the active season. Dormant oils are most effective against many soft bodied pests including aphids, adelgids, spider mites, scale insects, greenhouse whiteflies, mealybugs, plant bugs, lace bugs, and some caterpillars.

Rounds 2-4:

Spring – Late Summer rounds are designed to systemically control insects and diseases that attack susceptible plant material during the growing season. Because of the heat and humidity in this area, there is an abundance of pest pressures. It is Champion Green’s policy to minimize pesticide use in the environment when possible: upon each visit, we will evaluate the landscape and spray only the plant materials which are susceptible to the target pests.

Round 5:

Late Fall – Early Winter applications of late season fertilizer. This specially formulated fertilizer promotes more blooms and shiner leaves for the next growing season. The granules are packed with non-renewable minor nutrients often omitted from standard fertilizer to help your plants thrive year-round but will not promote excessive growth. This application is made at the end of the year so that the fertilizer will pass through the surface to the root zone by early spring, in time for the growing season.
