Aeration & Overseeding

When soil gets too compact, turf grass may not be getting the air and nutrients that it needs to reach its full potential. Lawn aeration will help fix this problem by pulling up plugs of soil which allows for a better flow of air, water, and nutrients to the root zone of your turf area. This improves lawn density and promotes deeper root development.

This service is available and recommended for both warm and cool season turf types. Tall Fescue must be aerated and overseeded every year to maintain the health and thickness of the turf area because of the stressors it incurs throughout the year. Warm season turf (Bermuda, Zoysia, etc.) does not require overseeding due to its natural regenerating behavior.

Benefits of Seeding and Aeration Together

Planting additional grass seed into your existing lawn is called overseeding. Aeration & Overseeding is a great way to enhance the health and appearance of your lawn. The newly sewn seeds can take advantage of the aeration process to more rapidly fill in bare spots and thicken existing turf. Adding several different varieties of Fescue is an additional benefit that your lawn will receive through overseeding. Having several varieties of Tall Fescue gives the lawn a diversification of strengths that assist with disease resistance and drought tolerance in the turf area. Champion Green uses only top of the line Tall Fescue seed labeled to be the most resistant to fungus and drought. Seeding at the time of aeration will make your lawn healthier, more beautiful, and more durable allowing more activity without the usual signs of wear.

Overseeding with Perennial Rye

Champion Green also offers overseeding Bermuda lawns with Perennial Rye in the fall. The seed germinates and thrives in the winter months as the Bermuda browns in its dormancy stage. This gives customers a beautiful green lawn for the entire year. It is not necessary to aerate the lawn at the time of overseeding with rye; however, it is highly recommended that the lawn be aerated during the prior and subsequent growing season.
